NVGunfighter 15-16 November; Harrells, NC
Hosted by Clear Run Sports in Harrells, NC
NVGunfighter (NVG) is a two day class designed for anyone beginning on night vision or those with experience to increase their awareness, knowledge, skill, and understanding of equipment capabilities and limitations. This class IS NOT a beginner’s firearms class, students must have adequate training with their weapons to be able to demonstrate safe handling and operation. Negligent behavior, or consistent unsafe actions will result in students being removed from training.
NVG will consist of daytime and nighttime portions, with an evening meal break around sunset. There are amenities nearby, however, it is recommended you bring your meal so we can minimize the break time and mitigate anyone being late to start the evening portion.
Day 1 will focus on the rifle and use of your laser, as well as passive aiming. We’ll cover some fundamentals to make improvements to marksmanship and practice smart manual of arms that will facilitate the nighttime portion. After the evening meal we will cover weapon setup, night vision setup, some general tips and tricks, and laser zeroing. We will then conduct a laser zero/ zero check, and repeat the daytime drills using active (laser) aiming and passive (NODs & sights) aiming. The goal of Day 1 is to make everyone more comfortable and confident with their equipment, while working on marksmanship ability as well. Once the range is called cold, we will conduct classes on defeating light barriers with IR and white light, and conduct the “NV Walk”, where students will be taken through slightly varied terrain and lighting conditions to apply the concepts discussed.
Day 2 will have more of a pistol focus, though we will still use rifles. After some brief fundamentals drills, we will introduce movement through a few specific exercises with both rifle and pistol. After the evening break, students will conduct white light drills with both weapons, and those students who have RDS mounted on their handguns will be afforded drills to work passive aiming through their night vision as well. Students will then conduct the movement exercises again using night vision (and white light as necessary) techniques. The class will wrap up with engagement of targets out to 200 yards with rifles using active and passive aiming
